I think this image could have been good but I think it has some faults...

I'm not sure where the focus point is, I think the foliage in the bottom left is more in focus. The focus point should have been on the flower stalk, then with a wide aperture you could have minimised the DOF and produced a blurred background.

The foliage at the top looks slightly over exposed, as does the top of the flower stalk, you could tweak the image in PC to attempt to reduce this (if there is enough detail).

I'm not sure that this works as a black and white, as there doesn't seem to be anything to attract the eye. I don't know what colour the flower stalk was, but perhaps selective desaturation could be used.

Follow up to my comment above...on looking through some of your other images I realise that this might have been scanned in from traditional media (rather than digital). So perhaps my suggestions regarding PC tweaking and selective desaturation aren't helpful...sorry about that

Cool, this reminds me of a photo I took during the summer.

I really like the tones in this. I think it could use a bit more contrast by darkening the shadows slightly. The DOF could be widened a bit though, because it only looks like the bottom right corner is in focus.

Good idea but overexposed and blurred.
